Frankie Craske
Hi, I'm Frankie. Having taken part in a variety of sports since childhood, my love of basketball is quite a recent addition!
My two boys both play at BBITC and with my extensive sports and coaching background, it made perfect sense to transfer those skills to the court at this fantastic club. Alongside coaching community sessions and assisting Sue with our Under-12s squad, I am also a L2 Table Official and I play in a local ladies’ team. During the day I work alongside Tom at the Inspiration Trust Basketball Academy.
After graduating university with a Dance degree, I continued studying to gain multiple qualifications to work in the fitness and leisure industry. I worked for over 15 years as a freelance dance teacher and choreographer, gym and studio instructor, personal trainer and quickly progressed to an Instructor Trainer and Assessor. Alongside this I delivered specialist PE support in local schools to enable teachers to incorporate dance, fitness and wellbeing into their PE curriculum, filling a gap in their teacher training knowledge base.
After starting a family, I moved away from the leisure sector and into education full time, initially focusing on delivering primary PE and wellbeing activities in both mainstream and an alternative SEN provision.
Whether it’s dancing, fitness or sports, witnessing the joy people of all ages experience through the many benefits of an active lifestyle keeps my passion for coaching alive after many years. Every week I help to facilitate fun, making friends, and being healthy in a positive competitive training environment.
Seeing the holistic growth of players, not only their on-court skills but also building their confidence and developing teamwork mindsets, is what makes me tick and I feel so fortunate to be in a position to do what I love every day (and evening, and weekend!).
Alongside basketball activities, I try to squeeze in running and if I am ever absent from a fixture it will be because I have a medal to earn or a PB to chase at a 10k or half marathon event. I ran the London Marathon in 2024 which I place as my hardest single personal challenge so far, only equalled by being mum to two boys!
I know what it’s like to be a basketball beginner, and believe me there are no silly questions!
